A Bit O' Clarification

My goal is to address something that has been on my heart for a little while....
In responding to a comment posted to my entry "Stilling the Glass Part II"I made a statement that I feel could easily be misunderstood:

The point is that we have to realize the boundaries of our logic in order to use it appropriately. In the end, it doesn't matter what brings us to truth, but that we arrived at all.

In saying this, I did not mean to incorrectly represent myself as believing that truth is "whatever floats your boat" or that I believe in "Anonymous Christianity"; I DON'T believe that consciously accepting Jesus as savior can be bypassed in the realization of truth. What I do believe is that Jesus, who is fully man, is also fully God. Thus, as a physical manifestation of God, He is not separable from this truth. It is through free will that every sinner has been given the opportunity to make the decision to accept Jesus as savior, regardless of whether or not the person is emotionally or logically motivated at the onset of the decision making process.

I apologize if my original statement, out of context, seemed misleading to anyone. That was not my intent. When writing, I often forget the importance of elaborating on these thoughts;)

What a great clarification... but you know what? I think it did make sense. It takes different things for different people to get to where God wants us!

I for one like the original statement as it stands. I think it is something profound, not limited to simply truth of religion - but any truth, which for many of us are different things. It may well be truth in an event, or ourselves, or our core beliefs. There are many truths - many more non-truths also - and I think you make a great point, especially regarding redemption:

It matters little the roads we've taken in life, for we cannot change the past; what matters is where we are and what we have discovered in the process of getting there.

That's what I take from your comment, and what I hold as my truth.

Thanks for your words.

I agree that truth is much bigger than religion and plays a role in every tenet of life and death. In essentialist terms, this objectivity is the very nature of truth.

It may seem hypocritical for a Christian to say these things, but don't agree. It is not about sitting in a pew, folding hands, or doctrine; it is about entering into relationship (ie. getting to know) with the Creator of truth. I may have been baptized catholic and confirmed Lutheran, but I see myself as part of a larger community that has been forever linked through this relationship.

Generally, I tend to sleep in on Sunday mornings, claim no one denomination (not even the non-denominational denomination), and rarely sit in a pew. But I do attend a house church on Sunday evenings Where we come together to share our stories, reach out to one another and the community and grow together.

Peace Out!

Kara,

Way cool. I like your point of view - I may not be "religiously active" as in sitting in pews either, but I know what I believe in, and it runs along the same lines. Which is really all I think God (or whoever the higher power is) really wants from us - to be peaceful, to love, and to spread THAT message. I honestly don't think God/Jesus/whoever it is/ gives a rip whether or not someone knows his name; I believe all that matters is what's in that person's heart - peace, love, tolerance, humanity, humility, and the like. If everyone on Earth clung to such values, there'd be no need for Heaven - we'd already have it here.

Peace, enjoy the reunion,
G

"Religiously active"

... there's an ad campaign right there for a church trying to get kids away from being sexually active at too early an age ...

Yah, I understand what you mean about being "religiously active" (BTW I cracked up with the thought of that campaign!..HEHEHE!) I don't think that religion is bad but there are a lot of people who are religiously active, who just go through the motions without a true submission to the founding beliefs. Christian communities are not excludeud from this type of show. I am glad that you believe in the existence of God, but in all honesty, my hope for you is that someday you might promulgate Jesus as your savior. Please don't take that as an insult; I respect your freedom to maintain your beliefs. It's just that, considering my beliefs and my hope that people will see the truth in Christ, it is the best way that I can express my best wishes for you:)
As always, thanks for stopping by! I always look forward to your intriguing comments.
Until Next time;)

ps. I think the reunion went well, and everyone enjoyed themselves:) Though, I am glad that it's over; I love my fam, but yah it's a lot of work! ;)

Glenn~
I am not always sure where I will go with my writing, but I am trying to improve my communication with the world; bridging the gap between inner thoughts and their outward expression. Hmmmmm....sort of like Erica's "Stutter" piece, but not nearly as impressive! However, thank you for swingin by this work in progress:)
God Bless!
